Schedule is set! :)

In the first and second week, I was still figuring now my schedule and crashing some classes to find out what I want to take this semester. Crashing is sometimes risky because I don’t know for sure if I can get into the class. If it is a big class (some classes have over 200 students), usually, professor takes crashers; if it is a really popular class and many students are crashing, a chance to get into the class will go down. I was crashing upper devision GE classes that many seats were empty, so I could get into all the classes I crashed! :)

SDSU has about 3 weeks to let students add and drop classes. It is useful time to get an idea of how your semester is going to be , to find out if the class is what you thought it is, and to decide what seems to work for you. I usually end up with different schedule from the first day of school and I did this semester as well. My schedule is set now and I like my schedule for this semester! Even though I am taking 6 classes, I have Wednesdays off :D It’s nice to have a day off from classes in the middle of week! I wanna manage my time effectively!!

Here is my schedule for Spring ‘10 :)

The first day of school!

Winter break is over!…:’( It went by so fast, but I had a wonderful break :) )

Today was the first day of school! I have registered most of my classes, but I have to crash a few classes. Crashing is to try to enroll in class which is already full. Some professors will take additional students if there are still seats in the class. I hope I can get into the classes that I am going to crash! Usually, on the first day of school, I see lots of students on campus and really feel that school just started, but today, it was little different from the usual first day because of the storm that is hitting San Diego.. :( The weather has been really bad this week.. We have got storms in San Diego! It was raining so hard today, too. It is very rare that we have weather like this in San Diego. I really miss sunny San Diego!! Hope the weather will get better soon!

3 weeks in Japan!! :))

I came back to Japan before Xmas and have had a very nice winter break :) I had been really looking forward to coming back home during the semester. New Year is the biggest event  in Japan and time to be with family. Many people go to shrine to wish that the new year will be a good year! I also went to shrine with my family to wish that 2010 will be a great year and bring peach and health to everybody! We also have traditional meal/food for new year in Japan. My mom cooked “Zouni” which Japanese people eat for the new year. I love “Zouni” :D

I was in Japan for 3 weeks and the time just flew…I will leave here tomorrow… I had such great times with my family and friends!! I am very sad that I’m leaving, but I feel that I can study hard again next semester after seeing my family and friends! :) I am looking forward to seeing them again…<3 Bye bye Japan! I will be back soon! :D

Balboa Park December Night :)

Balboa Park is one of my favorite spots in San Diego! It is a beautiful park :D I can just relax and enjoy the beautiful nature at the park.

Every year, they have a fabulous holiday event, “December Nights” on the first Friday and Saturday of December. This year was the 32nd December Nights!! It is a free event and there is a lot things going on at the event. They have cultural and musical performances throught out the day. There is carnival and lots of food from all over the world!! :)

It was my first time to go to the December Night! There were so many people!! I really enjoyed the event just walking around the park, seeing all the pretty lights and decorations, watching great choir’s performance, eating delicious food, and feeling the holiday atmosphere :D If you haven’t gone there, I really recommend you to go next year!! I will go next year, too!!

Happy Turkey Day!! :D

November 26 was Thanksgiving Day. Thanksgiving Day is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the U.S. It is a harvest festival and traditionally time to give thanks for the harvest and express gratitude in general!

People have a big meal on Thanksgiving Day! The traditional Thanksgiving menu is turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie. I had a big Thanksgiving dinner at my friend’s house. My friend started cooking at 6a.m. for the dinner!! Everything was so delicious :D We were stuffed with all the good food after the dinner. I love Thanksgiving!! :)

Planning ahead..!

I’m still in the Fall semester, but I can see the end of the semester now!! I only have one more month :D

I’ve recently realized that Spring 2010 schedule is up!! It is early to think about the next semester… I need to focus on this semester and keep up with my classes. But it’s also important to plan ahead and start thinking about my schedule for the next semester :) So I already made my wish list on WebPortal! Webportal is my own web page on SDSU website where I can register classes and can make a list of classes I wish to take.
The wish list helps me get an idea of what classes I want to take and how my schedule is going to look like; it is not actual schedule. It is like a planner.

Here is my wish list for Spring 2010. The classes and schedule are what I am thinking right now… I will likely change this schedule.. but the wish list is helpful to plan the schedule for the semester :D

Living on SDSU campus!

SDSU has dorms and apartments on campus. There are some advantages to live on campus! You will have easy access to campus. You can walk or bike to campus :D Also, you will be able to meet new friends in the dorm. It is a great opportunity to meet SDSU students in the dorm if you are new to San Diego :)

Happy Halloween!!

Halloween is my favorite event in the U.S.!!! :D We don’t really celebrate Halloween in Japan, so it is something special that I can experience in the U.S. People dress up in various costumes and children go trick-or-treating and get lots of candies on Halloween :)

I went to Downtown with my friends on Halloween and walked around the Gaslamp :) There were so many people!!! I saw a lot of interesting, crazy, scary, and funny costumes!! It was so much fun just walking on the street and watching people!
